Trade rumors remain hot for Washington Wizards Star

The Washington Wizards are preparing for a rebuild and starting with four players who can’t even order a drink in a bar.

That means that for the players who have come of age, their time in Washington DC could soon be over.

Bleacher Report writer Grant Hughes believes one of those players will be small forward Kyle Kuzma.

“Kuzma is a reliable 20-point scorer at a premium position who has shown in the past he can fill a smaller role. His 2020 championship with the Los Angeles Lakers still counts, and it’s fair to expect more efficient and balanced play from him to be expected if he ends up on a team that doesn’t need him in a high-use role,” Hughes wrote. “The Wizards are in the infancy of their rebuild and have every reason to turn Kuzma into as many picks and future assets as possible. If they can get a first-round pick and an expiring salary from a contender, Kuzma will pack his bags.”

The Wizards will be looking to make trades near the deadline, but they will want to expose Kuzma as much as possible before then to potentially get the best value out of him.

While getting the most out of Kuzma is important, the Wizards’ primary goal should be to grow rookies Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington and Kyshawn George, along with second-year pro Bilal Coulibaly, as much as possible. That should be the top priority, even if it means Kuzma doesn’t get as much attention.

Once Kuzma heals from his groin strain, which will keep him out of the team’s next game in Mexico City against the Miami Heat, he should get the ball more often in hopes of driving up his price.
