Struggling AFC teams may not be ready to sell valuable assets just yet.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that “several AFC teams” have paused trade talks and will wait until after Week 9 to decide whether to trade or retain contributors for a potential run.

The 2024 NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 5.

There are currently nine teams in the AFC with records under .500 and six with two or fewer wins.

Only one team in the AFC East is above .500, the Buffalo Bills, and the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are both hoping to make a run. Miami finally has quarterback Tua Tagovailoa back and his presence on offense should make the offense very potent once again. The Jets are already coming off a Week 9 win over the Houston Texans on Thursday night and are hoping quarterback Aaron Rodgers can steer them in the right direction.

The New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders have already dealt players before the deadline and more moves could follow.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals could potentially turn their seasons around, but losses in Week 9 would likely push them further toward a sellout.
