Man accused of pointing gun at other driver, victims in Conway

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A man found himself behind bars after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver in Conway.

Records show 48-year-old Rodney Miles was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Wednesday. He was later released on a $15,000 bond.

According to a police report and warrants obtained by WMBF News, Miles’s charges stem from an incident on Oct. 26.

Officers from the Conway Police Department were told by a person listed as a complaint that the victim was driving a vehicle with a trailer and had two other people inside. The victim was trying to avoid an accident on Highway 501 when it moved into another lane after they thought Miles let them pass.

However, police were told Miles allegedly followed the other driver to a nearby restaurant. Miles then allegedly started screaming at the victims saying they almost hit him before pulling out a handgun.

In the police report, the firearm was described as being “a mid-size gun“ with a ”large capacity mag.” Miles is accused of aggressively pointing the gun at the victims. The victims also feared for their safety and thought Miles would shoot them based on his behavior, according to the report.
