Jimmy Fallon Says ‘Hot Ones’ Segment Almost Killed Selena Gomez

Jimmy Fallon and Hot host Sean Evans looks back on the time they almost killed Selena Gomez.

As he tried to exert his hand on the Hot glove in an episode posted on Thursday, the Tonight Toon The host recalled his experience taking on the spicy chicken wing challenge with Gomez as part of a late-night segment in 2019. While Fallon and Gomez both passed the test, which was hosted by Evans, Gomez could be seen glassing near the end seeing milk puffing and crying because of all the heat.

“You almost killed an American treasure,” Fallon recalled. “Selena Gomez, she left and ran outside; I went and knocked on her dressing room door (and) she was throwing up in her sink.”

Evans added that this moment is his “favorite 30 Rock memory ever.” However, Gomez seemed to have the exact opposite reaction, considering her reaction when Fallon decided to open her dressing room door to check in on her.

“I say ‘Selena’ and she says, ‘Take the F out!’ in a devilish voice,” Fallon recalled as Evans started laughing. “I’ve never seen her like that – spit was dripping from her mouth – and I say, ‘I’m so sorry.’ And we haven’t spoken for three years.”

Still remembering what Fallon told him after the testy encounter, Evans added, “When she said that to you and you closed the door, you looked at me and said, ‘She’s doing great.'”

Fallon underwent a shortened version of the Hot challenge multiple times The tonight showwith stars like Gomez, JJ Watts and Priyanka Chopra. Prior to eating the wings, the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place star joked that she would probably “regret” it if she agreed to the experience.

Gomez managed to get through almost all of the wings before the brutal Da Bomb Beyond Insanity Sauce had her crying, walking around, drinking milk and licking the tablecloth to try to remove some of the excess heat.

“This is terrible!” she shouted at one point. She turned to Evans and later pleaded, “Why are you doing this to people?”

Considering her physical reaction on the first go-around, it should come as no surprise that Gomez has not yet officially appeared on Hot in the years since her first brush with the wings of death. But maybe it’s finally time for round 2?
